Nowadays we like nothing more than a good curry-munch so it's no surprise that Indian restaurants are becoming far the most popular. And where better to munch said curry than at one of Scotland's finest purveyors of Indian cuisine, the Ashoka in Johnstone - part of the highly-respected Harlequin chain. Now 13 years old, the Ashoka is a focal point in the town and its elegant and sophisticated design only adds to the grandeur of the restaurant. Decadent chandeliers, shimmering like diamonds, dangle from the high ceiling whilst elaborate drapes stretch to the ground and mirrors adorn the walls - but the interior design is far from being the best bit in the Ashoka experience. Whether its Vindaloo's, Bhoona's, Korma's or Tikka Masala's you're after, the Ashoka provides wonderfully-fragrant and tasty sauces to accompany the tenderest chicken and lamb you'll find - served by well-trained, courteous staff. And then, just when you think your dining experience couldn't get any better, you find that it's great value for money as well! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings sees the Grand Buffet Banquet take place where you can sample many varieties of Indian food and eat as much as you like of it for a mere £10.95 - with a child eating for free with each paying adult.
