Attempted murder probe after crash

18:25, Feb 24 2013

Police are treating a hit-and-run which injured a 16-year-old boy as attempted murder.

The teenager was deliberately struck by a blue car which mounted the pavement in Glenmanor Avenue, in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, Strathclyde Police said.

The youngster, who was with between 10-15 other people at the time, was hit by the vehicle, thought to be a Honda Civic or similar, which is said to have been "driven directly at them".

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to injuries to his head and body. Hospital staff described his condition as stable.

Detective Inspector David Scott, from Coatbridge CID, appealed for anyone with information to contact police on 01236 502 000 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
