Coach Craig opens doors to disgruntled supporters

Danny Lennon last night praised first-team coach Tommy Craig for his part in defusing a touchline altercation during Saturday’s win over Dundee.

Coach Craig was involved in an exchange of words with some fans in the main stand as St Mirren sought to break down the 10-man Taysiders.

Craig even offered to invite disgruntled supporters to the club’s training HQ this week to see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

And Lennon hopes the olive branch illustrates that the management team does share supporters’ passions and concerns.

Lennon said: “They are the paying public and the ones who pay the wages. They pay to be entertained.

“We feel the same frustration as our supporters, we all want the blip to stop as well.

“But Tommy handles that side of things very well. It’s a two-way thing.

“It’s about trying to educate supporters but, by the same token, they can educate us in terms of what’s required.

“We have even invited one or two supporters in and they’ll see us working hard behind the scenes and what we are trying to achieve. We think that type of communication is healthy.”
