Cup final ticket sales reach 13,000

Saints supporters are being urged to make sure they don’t miss out on a Hampden date with destiny ... as club bosses have revealed 13,000 tickets for the League Cup Final have now been sold.

The Buddies were allocated a total of 17,500 briefs for the showdown with Hearts on Sunday, March 17.

However, the Scottish Football League is poised to redistribute 3,500 of those if St Mirren fail to reach the 14,000 mark.

Saints chief executive Brian Caldwell explained: “Although we were allocated 17,500 tickets for the final, 3,500 of these are only to come our way if we manage to sell 14,000.

“We’re very close to that but there is still a chance the extra 3,500 tickets could go to Hearts because, understandably, the SFL don’t want there to be empty seats at the big game.

“My message to our fans is that, to make sure they get tickets, they should purchase these as soon as possible.

“If people wait until the last minute, they might end up disappointed.”

Hearts have already sold 17,500 tickets to their supporters, with further demand expected from Jambos fans.

Caldwell added: “ Naturally, we want as many of our supporters as possible at Hampden to cheer on the team.”
