18:25, Dec 3 2012

Former Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor has been charged with alleged drugs offences.

The 29-year-old was arrested in Leith Walk, Edinburgh, on Sunday night.

He has been released on bail to attend court at a later date.

The former Scotland player started his career with Hibs and returned to the Easter Road club last season after leaving in 2006. He now plays for Russian side Tom Tomsk.

He played in last season's Scottish Cup Final in which Hibs lost 5-1 to Hearts.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with alleged drugs offences. He is due to appear at court at a later date."
