ST MIRREN stopper Paul Gallacher last night revealed he fears he will be dumped from the next Scotland squad just days after resurrecting his international career.
Gallacher was given a late call to join George Burleys squad for the ill-fated clash with Wales on Saturday but he doesnt expect to be involved when the Scots take on the Czech Republic in their next match in March.
The Saints goalie was left on the bench for the 3-0 defeat at the hands of John Toshacks team in Cardiff and spent the entire game watching through the cracks in his gloves as his pals in dark blue were ripped apart by the Welsh wizards.
But, despite that horror show, Gallacher does not expect whoever is in charge of the national team for the Hampden friendly against the Czechs to call upon his services.
Gallacher who was drafted into the squad for Cardiff after Sunderland goalie Craig Gordon suffered a broken arm told Express Sports: I hope to be involved in every Scotland squad but I also have to be realistic.
Craig will probably be back to fitness by the time we play the Czechs and he was in the initial squad for the Wales match, so I dont see any change there.
There were three keepers in front of me in the original squad and I only got drafted in because of an injury.
If those three are all fit then they will probably stay ahead of me but you never know what is going to happen in football and, if I can keep playing well, I may get in on merit.
I didnt expect to get back into the Scotland squad at all but it happened.
With the international break now over, Gallacher has vowed to concentrate fully on continuing to produce the fine form he has shown since arriving in Paisley.
My focus has always been on St Mirren, he said. My main aim has always been to play first team football and anything else, such as international recognition, is just a bonus.
Gallacher admits he was gutted not to add to the Scotland caps he picked up under Berti Vogts between 2002 and 2004 but did take some comfort from at least being asked to join up with the squad.
He added: I was disappointed not to feature at the weekend but it was just great to be part of it. It was a fantastic experience to play some nice football during the training sessions. It was good to be playing at that standard again but, obviously, Saturday wasnt a highlight.
