Lennon still believes top-six is there for the taking

by Paul Behan, Paisley Daily Express

Determined Danny Lennon insisted a place in the SPL top six is still not beyond his Buddies.

Saturday’s slender 1-0 defeat at home to Hibs has left the Paisley side six points adrift of sixth place St Johnstone with just seven games to play before the split.

And while the Buddies boss accepts that the task ahead for his side is difficult, he believes Saints can make a late surge.

He said: “We have to make sure we put together a run and try to achieve our ambitions of getting into the top six.

“It’s going to be difficult but it’s certainly not beyond our means - if we apply ourselves properly.

“We must take our seven remaining games before the split as they come.”

Lennon is bewildered over the conflicting stories he’s received from the match officials on Saturday surrounding the penalty incident that ultimately won Hibs the game.

He said: “What’s disappointing is that there seems to be conflicting stories from the officials.

“Until I see it again, that’s all I’ll say on it.”
