Police name fatal crash boy, seven

A seven-year-old boy who died after being struck by a car has been named.

Ruaraidh McKay, from Penicuik, Midlothian, died at the scene of Tuesday's collision.

Emergency services were called to the town's Dick Terrace at about 4pm following reports the boy had been involved in a collision with a 4x4 vehicle in the street.

Lothian and Borders Police, who released the child's name on Wednesday, said officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The driver is assisting with inquiries, the force said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is being asked to contact police on 101.
