Refinery drivers vote for strike

18:25, Feb 19 2013

Tanker drivers at an oil refinery will take industrial action from Friday in a dispute over pensions and pay.

Unite said its members at Grangemouth, Scotland, will walk out for three days from Friday morning.

The workers, employed by BP, will ban overtime from Monday.

Unite said the industrial action will hit aviation supplies and deliveries to BP forecourts across Scotland and the North East of England.

Unite said 90% of the 42 tanker drivers balloted voted for strike action to defend their pension rights and in protest at the loss of a company share scheme as a result of the imminent aviation contract transfer from BP to another firm.
