Reilly hits the comeback trail

Teenage striker Thomas Reilly is set to hand the Buddies a boost by making a welcome return from injury within a matter of weeks.

Reilly, 18, has been out of action since he broke his ankle back in December.

However, the talented youngster is now well on the road to recovery and is expected to make his comeback next month.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon said: “Thomas’s ankle is out of plaster now.

“We are just trying to build up his calfs, so hopefully he’s going to be back within two to three weeks.

“Darren McGregor is making great progress too as he recovers from injury.”

Lennon has also heaped praise on young midfielder John McGinn, who was on international duty with the Scotland Under-19s against the Netherlands in midweek.

He said: “I’m led to believe he played a full 75 minutes the other night.

“That’s another step up the ladder for him and another pat on the back for John and St Mirren Football Club.”
