Saints stage open trials

Feb 7 2013

by Paul Behan, Paisley Daily Express

Young guns who reckon they’ve got what it takes to be a St Mirren star of the future are being urged to pull on their boots and take part in an open trial.

The event is being organised by the St Mirren Junior Academy and takes place at the club’s Ralston training HQ, in Bathgo Avenue, on Saturday.

Players, including goalkeepers, who were born in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007 can take part.

A St Mirren spokesperson said: “Any players who are interested in trying out for their local professional football club can come along at 3pm on the day to register.

“The afternoon will consist of small-sided games for young players to show off their skills, with theactivity finishing at approximately 4.30pm.”

The Junior Academy links the community department to the youth department at St Mirren, creating a pathway for a young player to reach pro-youth football.

Parents who would like to take their kids along should e-mail each child’s name and year of birth, as well as a contact number, to steven.sweeney@saintmirren.net.
