“I don’t feel under any pressure about selection – I just enjoy my football.
“The coaches have made me feel very welcome and everybody who tried out for the squad is happy to be part of the action.
“It’s just been bounce games between ourselves so far.
“I attended a training camp at Airdrie last week and there were about 50 of us involved but that was obviously very important because it will decide who goes to Italy for the games.
“Only about 25 players will be chosen and I was quite happy with how I played.
“I actually ended up playing out of position, on the left wing.
“It was probably the best I’ve played on any of my days with the under-15 squad candidates.”
Scotland’s under-15 team will play Italy on Wednesday, March 20, Friday, March 22, and Sunday, March 24, gaining valuable experience against top-class opposition.
Ross went pro-youth with St Mirren in 2011 after knocking back approaches from two other clubs.
He added: “At the end of last season, when I was still playing under-14 football, the Scottish Football Association sent scouts to watch matches.
“I was playing in a game against Kilmarnock when a scout spotted me. Since then, I’ve been to four training camps with the under-15 development squad.
“Before joining St Mirren, I’d played for Clyde Soccer Boys’ Club and had also been involved at Celtic’s Centre of Excellence.
“It’s my greatest ambition to have a football career.”
