Tannadice trip awaits St Mirren starlets

Nov 28 2012

by Gavin Pennie, Paisley Daily Express

St Mirren’s starlets will face a tricky trip to Tannadice if they make it through to the quarter-finals of the Scottish FA Youth Cup.

The Paisley kids, led by Saints’ youth development boss David Longwell, had been due to take on Falkirk away in their fourth round clash at the weekend but a waterlogged pitch led to the match being postponed.

It has now been rescheduled for 2pm this Sunday at the Falkirk Stadium.

And, if the Saints starlets can spank the Bairns, they will travel to Dundee United for their quarter-final clash.

The draw for the last eight was made yesterday afternoon and also saw Celtic being handed a home tie against Aberdeen, while Dunfermline Athletic will host Inverness Caley Thistle and Kilmarnock will welcome the winners of the fourth round tie between Livingston and Cowdenbeath.

The quarter-final matches are scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 24.

St Mirren earned their place in the fourth round of the cup by beating Stenhousemuir 3-1 at Ochilview.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes but the Buddies bagged two goals in extra-time to claim victory.

Goalscorers for Saints against Stenny were Declan Hughes and Michael Fulton, who bagged a double.
