“Steven is in fine form at this minute in time and long may that continue.”
Lennon has also been impressed by 34-year-old Thompson’s fitness levels.
He added: “I think Steven is the fittest I have ever seen him.
“That was a concern for us at the beginning of the season, in terms of how he would cope with the amount of games we had to play, but he has handled it fantastically well.
“It’s not just down to our medical staff, I think it’s a wee bit of everything.”
