St Mirren starlets enjoyed a day to remember at Hampden as they made it two wins out of two for the Buddies against Celtic.
Players from St Mirren’s Under-14 squad were handed their chance to shine during the half-time break in Sunday’s Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final clash as they took on their young Celtic counterparts in the 10-second challenge.
Each youngster had 10 seconds to run towards goal and slot the ball into the net.
And, in front of a crowd of around 24,000, it was the Saints kids who came out on top, beating their Old Firm rivals 5-4 in sudden death.
St Mirren community coach Brian Sproul was on hand to supervise the kids on their big day out and he said they had a tremendous time at the National Stadium.
Sproul added: “It was a massive effort from all the boys and they absolutely loved it.
“Daniel Scally showed some sublime skill to score the winning goal and our goalie Chris Henry also played a big part, saving two attempts to thwart Celtic.”
Also in the Saints squad were Stefan Armstrong, Aiden Wilson, Lee Fawkes and Luke Barclay.
Sproul has expressed his thanks to Brendan McKenna, of The Big Partnership, for inviting the St Mirren boys along to take part in the event.
